Description
Day 1
Wilderness Wildlife
Your Wildlife tour begins the moment your guide meets you
at the Kingscote Airport.
First stop is Seal Bay Conservation Park to learn how the
Australian sea-lion survives the rigours of the Southern Ocean.
The colony of bulls, cows and pups rest on the beach where
you can walk amongst them. Next a visit to the spectacular
and vast sand dunes of Little Sahara before traversing the
rural areas of central Kangaroo Island to Parndana Wildlife
Park where you will be treated with a delicious home-cooked
lunch, great SA wines and beers and freshly brewed coffee.
After lunch you visit the North Coast beaches, Snellings
and Stokes Bay that are perfect for a leisurely stroll to
enjoy the sound of waves breaking on the pristine, sandy coast
and a nature walk through the drooping she-oaks of Lathami
National Park and observe the kangaroos and wallabies. This
is also the habitat of the rare Glossy Black Cockatoo and
great country for the elusive echidna (spiny ant-eater)
At the end of the day you are returned to your accommodation
for a well earned rest and dinner.
Day 2
Wilderness Food & Wine
Your food and wine tour of Kangaroo Island begins when your
guide collects you from your accommodation.
First stop is the Island Pure Sheep Dairy where you have
the opportunity to view the milking of sheep and taste the
smooth yogurts and world class cheeses. From here you make
your way to Gum Creek Marron Farm, situated in picturesque
Cygnet River, for a sample of this lovely fresh water crayfish.
Next visit Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery that offers a unique
experience, being the only commercial distillery in South
Australia. You can enjoy a wander through their well-stocked
souvenir shop.
Then relax over a sumptuous lunch of local produce and wine
at Wyndemar and take in sensational farm and sea views.
Cliffords Honey Farm provides an informative talk on the
Ligurian bee found only on Kangaroo Island while enjoying
tastings of honey products produced on location.
You then move on to Sunset Winery at the eastern end of the
Island and enjoy a tasting of their very own first release
wines and local cheeses, whilst enjoying the 180 sea views
and tranquillity of the surrounding bushland.
At the end of the day you are returned to your accommodation
for a well earned rest and dinner.
Day 3
Return to Adelaide
You are collected from your accommodation for transfer to
the Kingscote Airport.
